Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart

Jacobson

 I Don’t Understand the Reverb.
October 7, 2014 –I’ve heard Bach organ music before. I think of it as reaching to the Heavens. I don’t understand the reverb at the Co-Cathedral. One, obviously, has to play the bouncing waves, ride them, surf them, so that the notes you want to articulate are heard as separate, not mush and, of course, to make mush the mush you want to be mush. Was the amplitude a way to ride the waves, to control the acoustic surf, to make the perfect recording or was it just not loud enough? Did Christopher Jacobson cut and curl to a high point score in the surfing world on his way to completing the monumental task of playing all the organ works in 2 days? I’m not sure. This was one of The Houston Critic’s recommended concerts of this season.
